First Degree
My Reiki First Degree courses are normally run on a monthly cycle in Chiswick, West London. Here's what you can expect:

My courses benefit from small class sizes, with a maximum of 4 students on a course.
You will receive a link to download the files for the Reiki First Degree Manual, 'Shoden', and accompanying MP3s as part of your pre-course study pack.
You will then attend a one day live course with me, mainly doing practical energy work. My students frequently comment on what a relaxed, fun and inspiring day they have had.
You will receive your Reiki First Degree Certificate on completion of the course.
We can also offer membership of our online discussion forum for those with the same Reiki training as yourself.
Reiki First Degree
Overview and Pre-Course Home Study Pack
Reiki First Degree, or "Shoden" is the course you need to do to begin your journey of discovery with Reiki. It comprises of a one day live course with Reiki Master / Teacher Louise Heseltine, which enables you to use Reiki for yourself, as well as your friends and family, and pets.

Upon receipt of payment and confirmation of your place, you will be sent a link to download your Pre Course Multi-media Study Pack. This includes a 170 page "Shoden" instruction manual, fully illustrated, and a number of audio files (MP3s). These accompany the Shoden manual and provide a commentary for the main parts of the course, and the others contains Guided Reiki Meditations which you will be working with. The pre course element takes about 9 hours to complete but some people prefer to spend longer digesting the information and practicing the techniques.

What Reiki's founder taught and how we can follow the original system today
The Reiki 'Precepts', mindfulness and the use of empowerments
How to benefit from giving a self-treatment and carrying out daily energy exercises
How to use Reiki on other people

Reiki First Degree - The In-Person, One Day Course
The LIVE COURSE is a one day course which takes you through everything you have been studying but is mainly about PUTTING IN TO PRACTICE what you have learned.

GETTING CONNECTED TO REIKI
On the day of the live course you will receive 3 special connection rituals called Reiju Empowerments. These are a simple, yet powerful way to open up the channels through which Reiki flows. They are equivalent to 'Western-style' Reiki Attunements and enable you to use Reiki for yourself and for others around you - your friends and family.
WORKING WITH REIKI
In the morning of your course you will practice working with energy, your own and that of the other students. We will run through some Japanese energy exercises which will help balance your energy system and make you a progressively stronger and clearer channel for Reiki. This ability will stay with you for life - and it works for everyone!
TREATING YOURSELF
Originally, Reiki was really a system for treating yourself. There are a few ways of doing this, and we will go through the original Japanese method of self-treatment as well as learning how the 'Western' style method can be used and look at some different approaches to working on yourself with Reiki.
GIVING TREATMENTS TO OTHER PEOPLE
Reiki these days is seen as a well-accepted complementary therapy, available at spas and complementary health clinics, and we will be covering how to give treatments in detail. In the afternoon of your First Degree course we will go through how to give a treatment and learn some standard hand positions that can be used. It is good practice to work intuitively, but students find that it's reassuring to have a system of hand positions to get started.
Requirements before you begin?
There are no entry requirements, but there is a pre course home study element to this course which should be completed in preparation for the day of the live course, enabling you to learn at your own pace before attending.

If you would like a paper copy of 'Shoden', the Reiki First Degree manual I will give you one of these at no extra cost. You will need to provide a postal address for me to send it to you.

Please note, places are limited to 4 per course, and you will need at least 2 weeks to complete the pre-course home study element of the training, and for me to post you your manual. Please book your place accordingly, to give you enough time to prepare.
